Nick orsborn has lived and worked as an artist in brighton
since 1970. most of his work thoughout this period has been
in watercolour, although from time to time he likes to indulge
in a spell of oil painting. his work has been widely exhibited
and sold in the UK and abroad and many of his images have
been produced as fine art posters and greetings cards.
He created the image used for the 1987 brighton festival
poster, which is available as a limited edition print (appropriately
titled "festival"), and is a contributing artist
to this year's 2006 festival "stamps" image.
He would describe his work as being concerned with the more
joyous and celebratory aspects of life, not its darker moments,
and many of his images contain an element of humour or gentle
irony.
Tthe images shown on this page are all available to buy at
51 wilbury road during the 2006 may festival, most as limited
edition prints, a few as originals.
In addition to his work as a painter nick also co-founded
cicada jewellery in 1973, designing, making and selling a
wide range of hand cast resin earrings, brooches and necklaces.
the images on this page show a selection of cicada jewellery,
and many similar pieces will be available at 51 wilbury road.
